Benish Lalani, FNP-C, OCN.
Benish is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) and Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) with clinical background in Oncology over the last 8+ years. Benish started off her nursing career at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she felt she found her calling in the specialty of Oncology. Benish later went on to finish her Master’s of Science in Nursing (MSN) at University of Texas at Arlington and continued on to care for Oncology patients as a Nurse Practitioner. Benish has clinical experience in both bedside nursing and outpatient clinic management of Oncology patients. Through her time at the bedside, Benish often found herself thinking of ways to improve patient care beyond the bedside. The healthcare system, as we all know it, has numerous hurdles that both patients and healthcare providers face while trying to receive and provide adequate care.
Who better to help entrepreneurs and other health tech initiatives understand these gaps than someone who has been at the very core of the healthcare system along side the patients? In 2020 Benish transitioned away from the bedside to works as a Clinical Research Manager for a health tech start up. This company was set out to help match Oncology patients to personalized cancer treatments and clinical trials, based on next generation tumor sequencing and ongoing clinical research through academic partnerships. Benish later transferred her prior oncology clinical skills plus her new learned industry data manager knowledge into the role of a Pharma Operations Manager. After 3 years working in industry, Benish was ready to take the next step in her career. She is now working as a Medical and Scientific Liaison and is excited to see where this journey takes her.
Benish knew early on that Oncology was, and still is, her calling. She has now been able to take that passion and be a leader in health care innovations.
